How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?
Laser therapy works by selectively targeting the darker pigments in the skin. This is why lasers are so versatile and can treat anything from unwanted hair to spider veins. With laser tattoo removal, the thermal heat breaks down the particles in the ink layer by layer, allowing these particles to then be escorted out of the body by the white blood cells through a process called phagocytosis. The darker the ink color, the more heat energy is absorbed by the skin. Black tattoos are thus the easiest to eliminate via laser therapy. However, all colors can be successfully erased by using different laser wavelengths corresponding to the pigment color. Once the tattoo ink has been removed, the skin resumes its natural, pristine glow.
